Ride your life!

Updated: 5 days ago

Life they say has to be lived & How!? When youth of 25 and below struggle to cope with the distance and searing heat, this gentleman completed the 210 km ride on a total ride time of 10:10 hours with an average of 21 km to the clock. The gentleman had angioplasty (PCI) done twice, with three stents in all and a secondary surgery after a year later and yet the happy young man, all of 61 did this epic ride on a humid day with temperature reaching 35 degree on the Rishikesh Highway. All this also thanks to the encouragement of the Riders club Ultra Rides of Sanjeev Sharma.

Meet Mr Tewari a Father of three grown up kids with a career and family of their own who is also a veteran of the Mountains hailing from Sure village Uttarakhand.

This extraordinary cyclist who is also a prime supporter of www.cycletofuture.com created to cater to the 50 + folk to pries them out of their cozy settles to the road and also help repurpose cycles gathering dust as they lay in thousands of apartment basements around the country, for Donation to the needy.

Adventure has been in the blood of Mr Tewari from the start of his career who soon got fed up the routine of salaried work and launched as a free lancer fairly early in life. That he made a decent living out of freelancing as a computer service person and also as a publisher of books, pamphlets and Flex signboards from design to execution. Life has not been easy for the maverick cyclist but he made it in life which matters.

Anything with Tewari is possible as he is the Go to man in the GD colony in Capital city across the River Yamuna. Rarely a NO will come from this gentleman.

Coming back to cycling, like his computer repair knowledge and passion, cycling soon became a passion with numerous rides on a daily basis exceeding 20 Km each day in clockwork precession. The longest ride was 200 km to Sardana, the mini Basilica of Our Lady of Graces, a Roman Catholic Church built by a Muslim Queen Begum Samru, for a mercenary European Soldier Walter Reinhardt Sombre. Begum Samru had inherited the Jagir of Sardhana after her husband's death in 1778 and built it as a prosperous principality under the British Tutelage with which the Grandfather of Pandit Nehru India's first Prime minister, was also associated as its Prime Minister under the Begum.

Tewari took to cycling to uncover such hidden jewels of India as he believes that ride rather than Race is the way to discover the country at one's own pace. We agree as 50 + people should Ride their cycles more for discovery, meditation and inner journey of their own independent of external influences. You with the people when you Ride without the people infringing on your privacy or taking up your mindspace.

Concerning the day's ride with Ultra Rides, the event had almost 150 cyclists at Flag off 5.30 a,m sharp in sector 18, Noida and Mr Tewari was one of the first to go forward. The cyclists took the road to Garmukteshwar, the nearest point for the Ganga River from Delhi exactly 100 km from the starting point of the Rally. On their return only around 80 cyclists made it back in time with Tewari clocking 10:20 hours with average speed of 21 km.

The efforts of Riders like Sanjeev are the best way forward for the country where poverty is endemic which also means of mitigating poverty through hard work a necessity. Donated cycles are definitely would certainly help! Cycle More and Donate your used cycles more!
